Shu Chou

About

Shu has worked as director of photography for many domestic and international broadcasters (Channel 4, Nat Geo), features and music videos. He has shot over 100 films, many of them award winning; Goodbye Shanghai (Best Cinematography, HollyShorts Film Festival, 2010), Young Blood (Muhr Asia Africa Shorts, 1st Prize, Dubai IFF 2009). His feature film for which he was DP, The Piano in a Factory, won Best Actor in Tokyo Film Festival, 2011 and was nominated for the Golden Horse in Taiwan, 2011 for the Best Cinematography. 

He has also worked on TV commercials for Nike, Adidas, Maybelline, Citigroup, Allianz, Morgan Stanley, Rolex and for production companies such as Gungho films, Primary Connection Inc, Flirting Pictures, Protean Image Group and Ginger Film. Shu has operated camera for DPs such as Emmanuel Lubezki (Children of Men, The New World) and assisted for Salvator Totino (The Da Vinci Code, Cinderella Man). 

Shu studied at HDK Berlin and the London Film School. He lived in Europe for 12 years and has worked extensively in London, Barcelona, Berlin, Shanghai and Beijing with 35mm, Super16 & digital cinema formats.
