London Film School Disability Statement
The London Film School will, to the best of its ability, comply with the Disability Discrimination Act of 1995 (DDA), as amended by the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act of 2001 (SENDA). This act makes it unlawful for universities and providers of Higher Education and related services to discriminate against disabled applicants, potential applicants or its students.
We commit ourselves to making “reasonable adjustments” within the constraints of our building, while maintaining competence standards, so that disabled people are not knowingly placed at a disadvantage.
The School welcomes applications from disabled people including those with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. While we cannot claim to have all the facilities and services that may be required for students with disability undertaking an MA Filmmaking programme, we will endeavor to remove barriers to allow students access to and success in postgraduate film education. LFS is striving to provide a quality of experience for all its students and to develop its services for disabled students/students with learning difficulties and will include them fully in all activities within the school. Where necessary, the Student Services Manager or the Disability Officer will engage the help of teaching support for students with specific and identified learning difficulties or work in conjunction with the University of Warwick to meet the student’s needs. Over the past 10 years, the school has supported students with impaired vision and impaired hearing in collaboration with specialist support agencies.
Our aim is to continue to familiarize ourselves with the needs of all students wishing to, or already studying with London Film School.
We include an equal opportunities form on our online application system to give applicants the opportunity of declaring their disability. Students can also declare their disability by confiding in the Student Services Manager, Disability Officer, Admissions Manager, Personal Tutor, Term Tutor or Head of Department.
Additionally, within the limitations of our current premises, we have made adjustments for visitors with disabilities to use our premises within our normal visitor arrangements. This requires pre–notification of visits to London Film School so that additional information can be communicated in advance.
