San Fran Saint

Director: Ali Charmi

Ali Charmi was born in Iran and raised in Finland. He drew his first comic book at the age of 6 because he was too young to go see the Star Wars trilogy in the cinema.

In 2004 he co-founded a renowned independent urban music label in Finland called 3rd Rail Music. Through working in the music business he ended up directing his first music videos and got into directing live action movies.

In 2007 Ali entered London Film School and directed more short films. In 2008 he directed an animated music video for his children's project, Hiekkalaatiikojengi. The video was a joint venture between Ali's company and EMI Records.

Ali just finished his graduation film, shot in San Francisco, and is currently working on a feature film script about second generation Iranian youth in the West, an animation series, an urban T-shirt brand and a few small art projects.
