MARTIN STITT - C. 143 - FIRST FEATURE IN THE FEARLESS TALES GENRE FESTIVAL

Martin Stitt - Course 143 - is pleased to announce that his first feature entitled "NINE DAYS OF HELL" - "our homage to Roger Corman, the King of low budget film making, is having its world premiere at the Fearless Tales Genre Festival in San Francisco. Screening alongside titles such as 'REX STEELE : Nazi Smasher' and 'Teenage Bikini Vampires' - which gives you a flavour for the festival!"

"COMMENDED" & "TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT" CERTIFICATES AWARDED TO "SOLO AT THE LEARNING ON SCREEN AWARDS 2005

"SOLO" Written and directed by Marina Simoes, Cinematographer Shu-Hao Chu, Editor Carlos Armella has won a Commended Certificate Award in the category Student Production sponsored by JVC Professional and Technical Achievement Award for Sound and Lighting at the Learning on Screen Awards 2005, held in Bradford at the National Museum for Photography, Film and Television on Monday, 21st March. The certificate is signed by Clive Izard, Chairman of the Society for Screen-Based Learning and Murray Weston, Director, British Universities Film & Video Council.

Chrissy Bright was at the Dinner and Awards Ceremony representing LFS so was able to collect the Commended Certificate on the students behalf. The Technical Achievement Awards Certificate is being sent to her.

The Jury Chairman said some glowing things about the film as follows:

"Marina demonstrated great control of all the elements of film production. The narrative worked well and the camera work and sound track strengthened this.

SOLO, amongst the student productions, stands out amongst everything seen for the quality of the soundtrack and the care taken with the lighting. Hence the nominations for Sound and Lighting Technical Achievement Awards."

CHRISSY HAS WON A FESTIVAL AWARD

Chrissy, our Librarian/Festival Co-ordinator, etc. has been presented with a Certificate and Paperweight Award by the Student Film Forum Foundation at their 2nd International Students Festival of Film Art, Balchik -2004, Bulgaria, 25.9.2004. For the way she presented LFS student work to the festival and the Certificate reads "Award for Best Represented Academy Within The Festival Programme".

The accompanying letter said "It is our greatest pleasure to congratulate your Academy for the excellent presentation of your students work at the Festival, for agreement between perfection of film structure and space for experiments and individual expression".

Sixteen film academies from ten countries from three continents took part in the event, among them were. apart from LFS; "Camera Obscura" School of Art, Tel Aviv, Israel; HFF "Konrad Wolf" Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany; UCINE, Buenos Aires, Argentina; National Film & Television School, Beaconsfield, UK; VGIK, Moscow, Russia; The Northern Film School (Leeds School of Art), Leeds, UK.

This is also the Festival were Norma Nebot won Best Director for "ANNA" - Part 1 of the portmanteau feature film "SENSES".

The awards were assigned by an international jury, consisting of seven members.

They have also asked to Showcase LFS at their 3rd Festival in September this year.
