A 5 day F/T course designed for students who want to work in film and TV sound, first as a Sound Assistant and then as a Sound Recordist. It is designed to give them a basic working knowledge of industry techniques and practices. Course content as follows:
- Hands-on experience of at least two types of high-end recorders and their associated mixers.

- Boom-swinging under realistic studio and location conditions.

There will be subsequent opportunities to work on LFS studio drama productions and observe the passage of these productions through post production, from editing to track laying to mixing, perhaps in Dolby SR. This will mean visits to Avid and Protools suites and to a professional dubbing theatres.
The course is held in a workshop environment with basic studio lighting, video camera and sound and picture playback.
On completing the course, students should be useful to professional Sound Recordists and thus on course to become Recordists themselves.
Applicants will need to show some knowledge of electricity and basic recording techniques.
