JOHN SARGENT: John's production industry career history spans over 40 years, starting out as a location accountant working up the ranks to Production Controller, working on titles such as THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES (1968), FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (1970), THE LAST DAYS OF POMPEII (1983) and THE MISSION (1986).
In 1983 John recognized a need for the industry to have access to an efficient payroll service which understood Industry demands and legislation which could also provide supported accounting software. Affiliating with DISC Microsystems, (pre-cursor to EP’s Vista Accounting systems), Sargent-Disc was born.
John has continued to provide a high level pre, production and post production accounting services to the industry with credits including: MY LIFE SO FAR, DONNIE BRASCO, THE HAUNTING, AMERICAN BEAUTY, GLADIATOR, ROAD TO PERDITION, BAND OF BROTHERS, HOTEL RWANDA and BUNNY TOWN.
Sargent-Disc’s service portfolio has expanded over the years to supply and train Industry standard Production software. Supported by its own I.T. department, services are kept in line (and online!) and so continue to embrace the constant advancement of today’s technology.
Specializing in the training of the EP Budgeting and Vista accounting software packages, John brings his years of production accounting experience alive into the classroom and so into the minds of the next generation of production talent.
PENNY CHRISTOPHER: Penny started her production journey, ‘learning on-the job’ in various commercial and documentary companies in the early 1960’s where she moved into Television production working on THE SAINT and THE AVENGERS.
In 1966 Penny joined the Mirisch Corporation at MGM Studios as a Production Co-ordinator working on many of their UK based films including WHERE EAGLES DARE.
In the early 70’s Penny took some years out to raise a family, using the time to work on short-term contracts where she was regularly hired to breakdown and schedule scripts.
Penny embraced the computer age, spending time mastering the new technologies and working with ‘Toolkit’ (the forerunner to Movie Magic) where her skills were soon put to work on BATMAN in 1986.
Upon returning back into the Industry full time, Penny worked as a Production Co-ordinator on many productions, including EVENT HORIZON, and THE RETURN TO THE SECRET GARDEN using her scheduling skills and applying them to each new piece of Scheduling software as it has arrived onto the market.
