Three Dimensional Drawing for Film/TV with Lens Projections

Start Date: January 2009 - New dates to be confirmed. Please register your interest with Carolyn Atherton: c.atherton@lfs.org.uk

Introduction

This workshop is a module of the Fast Forward Programme.
Fast Forward is a career focused programme for industry professionals looking to develop their skills to the next level. Click here for more details.

A new five day workshop led by a draftsperson and a production designer teaching ‘lens projections’ on the drawing board and developing drawing techniques which suit individual styles using a variety of media.

This workshop is aimed at those with some prior drafting experience needing to improve their skills and those wanting to progress to the next level in the Art Department of the film and TV industries.

Each image on the screen has tone, contrast, perspective, colour as well as light sources. The purpose of a drawing is to provide the director and production team with information that convey these aspects and which enhance the ‘subject matter’. They also communicate clear ‘visual ideas’ of the overall feel, colour and tone of the piece, providing information for set-decorators, costume and lighting. The design process can often set the tone of the piece and gives the production/director ideas to work with.

Participants will be taught how to set up ‘lens projections’ on the drawing board to start with, then develop drawing techniques which suit individual styles using a variety of media. Participants will create and take away a set of prime lens angles printed on acetate.

Fee- £430.00 (all fees include a Skillset subsidy, therefore this course is not eligible for individual Skillset bursaries)
